The Photographer Profile: Nigel Tissington

Originally from, and now back living in the Darley Abbey area, Nigel has worked in photography in studios, business and universities in and around London, Birmingham and Derby over many years

This experience means you benefit from expert camera, photo-editing and printing skills, resulting in top class service and product

PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE

Nigel, who studied photography in the (now) University of Central England, in the days of black and white darkroom in the nineteen-seventies, has worked in photography since, and is therefore experienced in both the technical and business aspects required for delivering for you a professional photography service

WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Nigel Tissington (who is a grand-parent) has photographed portraits for children in studios in Derby and London, in playgroups, nurseries and schools, and in-store projects over many years

Press work for local authorities has lead Nigel to work with children in press and documentary photography throughout Derbyshire, for Derbyshire County Council

Nigel has also taught children in primary school (as part of out-reach programmes in Adult Education for Derbyshire County Council)

DIGITAL SKILLS

Nigel has worked with digital photo-editing software, from before the creation of 'Photoshop', and has advanced skills in both corrective and artistic photography editing

TUITION AND TEACHING

Nigel has devised and taught courses in traditional and digital photography for Adult Education for Derbyshire County Council, throughout the county, for Derby City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council

Courses include City & Guilds' and GCSE (when he also worked as a mentor to lecturers), staff training for both Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Constabulary. Nigel has also lectured at University level, at the University of Derby

FINE ART

Nigel produces giclée prints for artists for exhibition use

Nigel's own limited edition fine art giclée prints have been exhibited recently at Conkers Art Gallery in Derbyshire, and are currently stocked by Leabrooks Art Gallery in Derbyshire, and a number of retail outlets in Derby

CHARITY CAUSES

The studio is happy to support children's charities, and welcomes approaches from relevant causes

The Mill Photo Studio is special, set spectacularly along the top floor of the historic olde mill, part of the World Heritage site, and bursting with character

With its Grade One listed status, the Mill is as architecturally as important as Saint Paul's Cathedral in London...

yet we have the bonus of being situated in a pretty village, beside a picturesque river and surrounded by beautiful parkland too!

We've retained many original features of the working mill in our studio, and use its rustic photogenic qualities in some of our photography
