The courses are designed for owners of digital slr and bridge camerasThe courses are for beginners/improvers
We'll ease you into what may seem a complicated technical subject, and reveal it to be a creative, intuitive way to express your photography passion
AIMS OF THE COURSEWe aim for you to have a familiarity with your camera which will enable you to confidently take photographs under most circumstances
From results of the course itself, we aim for you to have at least three fabulous images, which you will be proud to have framed and displayed, plus a range of images which have shown technical skills development
NOTE FOR TOTAL BEGINNERS
To make the best of the course, if you are a complete beginner (as in 'help! just opened the box!') we recommend an individual tuition session first
THE COURSE CONTENT
In the morning, we'll look at camera basicsThe emphasis is on 'learning by doing' so we keep our numbers on the course very low, to allow some individual tuition, yet with the dynamics, interaction and sharing that a group will generate
We'll look at the 'basics' including iso, white balance, quality, focus control, exposure compensation and all the information you need to confidently use your camera. We'll move from auto programs to the programs which give more control
We'll also look at the artistic side of your work including cropping and viewpoint
You'll explore window lighting, fill-in, and 'depth of field', all done in a fun practical way
After a light lunch (included in the price and with all tastes catered for) we'll explore location photography (weather permitting!) in beautiful Darley Park, where our studio is located
We'll learn about filters; tripods; cable releases; time exposures; using reflectors and fill-in flash
Then, back to the studio where you'll learn how to take stunning studio flash photography using lighting, opening up new possibilities of creativity
This is followed by discussion of the work produced, with questions and answers
The emphasis is on learning by doing in a hands-on, fun, practical way
So get your new digital slr, and come and join us to learn (and swap!) creative and technical hot-tips, with a group of like-minded people! The Mill Photo Studio, 10-5.00. The price is £95
