After looking fab in their latest fashion gear, the friends changed into pjs and out came the teddies for a cuddle... with Mia giving a hug to a real cutie, Henry, her 5 month old baby brother! Seriously, aaawww...!

Mimi and Nigel had a fun time doing the photography at a Charity Ball at Risley Hall in Derbyshire recently! A total of £3000 was raised for Treetops Hospice, so well done to the organisers, a group of parents from Redhill Primary School

Join our Olympic effort!
On right track for Rainbows...

Our photographer at the Mill Photo Studio is to run in the first competitive race at the Olympic Park Stadium on 31 March 2012
The event, the Olympic Park Run, is five miles around the new London facilities

Friends of the studio helped us to raise £130 for the local children's hospice, Rainbows, last year. We aim for more this time! It costs £400 to provide a bed and care for one child for one night so, with your help, we set our sights on this amount. Thanks in advance to you :)

It was great to have his fab voice echo around the mill, whilst we did the full works with wind machine and coloured mist! Now where was I?... Oh yes 'Fly me to the...'

It's great to see the finished result of the super creative work, made by all the children of Walter Evans C of E Primary School in Darley Abbey, just round the corner from our photography studio. It's an amazing twelve feet long, mixed media mural in the reception area

Running with the Rainbow

We were delighted to work with our local school, Walter Evans CE Primary, to produce an exciting colourful photomontage of the iconic places in Darley Abbey. The children will use it as a template for a twelve feet long mixed media mural in the entrance... can't wait to see the final image, especially as every child in the school will take part!

We're in 'Darley Abbey Day' again, a community event for local charities!
On Sun 12 June, there're activities in the village and mills, with an open day and exhibition at the studio
There's a photo-competition for all ages. All pictures are framed in super mounts and displayed at the photo studio. There'll be cheese and wine (cheers!), lots for kids, and fab prizes of over £400 for winners... you keep the mount too!

Calendar set to raise £22,000

The studio was featured again recently on Channel Four's prime time documentary programme, the Secret Millionaire, in a 'catch up' episode

The programme showed the shooting of a fun calendar, which is now on sale to raise an additional £22,000 (yes!) for the Lewis Mighty fund, in Derby

We launch our first exhibition, 'Rainbow Dance', of fine art prints, created and printed in giclée at the Mill Photo Studio in Darley Abbey, Derby, and shown at the art gallery in the National Brewery Centre in Burton on Trent, Derbyshire
Samantha, a Can Can dancer from Derby, took part in a shoot to produce some of the artworks on display
The limited edition prints, which also include the Rainbow Collection, are currently also to be seen in major retail outfits in Derbyshire, and also at the photography studio. Come buy ! :) n

We were delighted when Derby family Williams chose the Mill Photo Studio to help celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary
We were even more excited to meet all their family, including thirteen grand-children (wow!) who all had a great time running around the studio!
Ruth and Peter Williams (centre front), who have lived in pretty Darley Abbey Village, where our studio is located, for over forty years, were thrilled; we were proud to have been part of such an important yet fun occasion

Hybrid in tune with Mill

Derbyshire electro-dance band, Hybrid, found the Mill Studio the perfect venue to film the video for their new single, 'Can You Hear Me', now on general release
Soon at Glastonbury, then a Europe tour, the band rocked the Mill with energy

Secrets unveiled for charity...

The studio was filmed by Channel Four, featuring in the prime-time tv series 'The Secret Millionaire'. The studio shoot shown is for a wickedly funny calendar, currently in production. Q up... beautiful courses!

Our unique series of digital courses, photoQ, is starting in March on 16,17 and 18. The price is £95 for a day. The three day series will be repeated each month, on the middle Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each month.
The courses will be themed around beauty photography, although all techniques will be transferable to every genre of photography. Students will learn studio lighting techniques with a model, with effects filters, and wind and fog machines; how to manage work flow with Photoshop Bridge, raw processing, beauty retouching with Photoshop CS4; how to get the best from your printer, including printer colour profiling.
What more could you want? Other than possibly a hearty aga-cooked lunch? (included!) ... and the opportunity to buy me a drink afterwards at the historic Abbey pub in the village? (oh, ta very much... cheers!) n x

''Children in Need' Event

We were delighted to host a charity photography event for Derby Merlin Round Table, when about thirty members used the studio for their own photoshoot. Both I and Daisy were on hand to help with technical aspects of the studio and cameras.
Thanks for all the kind comments from the participants, with Chair Ralph Willis describing the event 'a great success with some fine image results'.
Here's a superb shot that the group took at the end, with some of them together. It was great to see so many people enjoying the studio facilities, especially with the knowledge that all the proceeds they raised are going to the charity 'Children in Need'. n :)

The proceeds from our recent open day at the photography studio are in sponsorship of the 10k run, to Rainbow Trust Children's Charity... so thank you to all who fought through the rain and came to the studio on Darley Abbey Day to take part!
We were delighted to meet so many new people. We've just sent a cheque of £200 on behalf of our sponsors to Rainbows :D
